It's so important to remember what you don't want so that you can refocus on what you do want. It's the magic of contrast. Of course at the perfect moment this morning my little sister called to say just that. She always shows up with the words and I'm endlessly grateful. Contrast. Yeap. Yesterday I had one of those opportunities to remember what I don't want. Overwork. I'm a do-er. I can get a ton done in a day. I get super focused in and sometimes I overwork. It's a blessing and a curse... but more often a curse (anything that leaves you feeling depleted, sad, glazed over... that's your sign it's not a good thing). Yesterday it was a friend seeing it, totally getting it and Face Timing to say WOAH- step away. Just step away. First I cried and then I closed my computer, ate a fortune cookie + drank a glass of wine. It all helped.
Meditation + eating really simply always helps me to recalibrate. So I meditated first thing when I got up and you betcha today is going to be filled with simple but delicious foods. Starting off the day with this classic!
Classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie
*Gluten-free *Dairy-free *Vegan
- 10oz almond milk
- 1 banana (frozen makes the smoothie creamy and frothy)
- 1/2 c frozen strawberries (5-8 strawberries)
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Pour into 2 glasses (or keep it all for yourself)! Enjoy!
So today... if all you see around you is what you don't want. Take note, see what a gift that is and then step back. What is it that you DON'T want? What practices bring you back?
