Be Your Advocate

Recently I was having a conversation with a dear woman in her 40’s about sex and intimacy. As she was recounting her sexual history she spoke of all the times she’d let sex continue even when her body was in pain. With tears in her eyes she said she wished she’d spoken up for her body sooner.
.
These days she advocates for herself with much more ease.
.
I share this because I was deeply moved by her story and her bravery to unapologetically stop having sex in certain ways. I think her story is something we can all relate to on some level. Maybe it’s not sex for you - maybe it’s knowing when to stop eating or stop exercising or stop something else entirely.
.
Whatever it is know that you are your own best advocate. No one knows your body better than you do. Treat it as the sacred vessel it is. You are worthy of the kind of pleasure you desire!
