Today...

We are exploring our California and getting out to see her beauty. My word for 2010 has found me and with is some exciting plans and goals. Today I feel completely happy and inspired. I'm happy with where we are and where we are going. These are the days that define us... when we are free to be out in the world and together-- present in the moment and looking forward to all that a new year can bring. These are the days that I am thankful for.

Recents and word of the year!

As the days pass by I am more and more excited for 2010 and all the possibility that it holds. I am still working on formulating a new word of the year...hey maybe possibility! For the past few nights, each night when we lay down for bed my mind starts racing on what my word should be and I call out options in the dark to see if anything sounds and feels right. Cliff has already selected his. I'll wait to reveal ours together. : )

2008's word was perfect in every way and 2009's word might as well have been survive or something like it b/c fleruish didn't happen. Perhaps in some small ways it did and of course I could romanticize it up to make it seem like fleurish worked but it just didn't soothe as a year long mantra in my mind. So here I am again grappling with what my word of the year will be. I can't wait to hear what Kayla's word will be.

Did you pick words last year? Did they suit? Will you pick again?

These are from a recent getaway to San Luis Obispo, Morrow Bay and Avila Beach, California.

Oh Martha!

I am loving the newest Martha Stewart Living Mag (Jan 2010 issue). When I read a magazine and see something I like I rip out the page immediately! That way I am sure to look at it again. I have a file in my studio that holds all my ripped out magazine pages. It is full of gift ideas, cleaver gadgets, great clothes, beauty do's and don'ts, organizational tips and tricks I want to try, and crafts I want to make.

Ok so I tried to scan the pages for you to see but I am having a little disagreement with the scanner... Allow me to stand up on my soap box for a moment... I don't think it's too much to ask that my dell laptop communicate with my dell printer! HELLO-- I bought them to use together and since day 1 they've resisted each other! FRUSTRATING to the max!

Any way I LOVE this and I've never seen anything like it! I WANT I WANT I WANT! In our house we drink lotsa water and how fun would it be to make your own sparkling water!! I love that you don't have to go through tons of plastic bottles like we do now and over time it would a real savings to buying bottles at the store!

These are a really great idea for the fire lover in your life! One scented candle replaces the need for kindling and adds a woodsy scent to the fire. But at 4 for $40 they'd have to be a special occasion kind of deal in my mind.
And there's a really great recipe for homemade ginger bath soak that I am going to make for myself!

2 cups baking soda
1 cup Epsom salts
2 tablespoons ground ginger

Add to warm water and soak up to a half hour. It's so easy and would be a really thoughtful and inexpensive holiday gift.

And if you are in need of a little digestive aid ginger tea is wonderful if you have an upset tummy. My fave is Yogi Tea.

Happy Monday!
